By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Concacaf has officially unveiled the Group Stage schedule for the 2025 Concacaf Central American Cup, setting the stage for intense regional competition. Premier League of Belize (PLB) champions Verdes FC are gearing up for a challenging campaign, with two crucial home matches against Central American powerhouses Saprissa of Costa Rica and Motagua of Honduras set to take place at the FFB Field in Belmopan. They are also preparing for tough away encounters in Panama and Costa Rica.
Verdes will begin their journey on Tuesday, July 29, facing Honduras’ powerhouse Motagua, a team they previously faced in the tournament two years ago. On Wednesday, August 2, 2023, Verdes suffered a defeat against Motagua at the FFB Field, a result they will be eager to overturn in this year’s rematch.
They will then host Costa Rican giants Saprissa on Tuesday, August 5, in what promises to be a thrilling showdown in Belmopan.
Their away matches will see them traveling to Panama to take on Club Atlético Independiente (CAI) on Thursday, August 14, and then heading to Costa Rica to face Cartaginés on Wednesday, August 20.
The Group Stage promises intense action as Verdes seek to advance against some of the strongest clubs in Central America. With two home games in their favour, they will look to capitalize on home support at the FFB Field while bracing for demanding tests on foreign soil.
Verdes FC Group Stage Schedule:
- Week 1 – Tuesday, July 29, 6:00 pm: Verdes vs Motagua (Honduras) at FFB Field, Belmopan
- Week 2 – Tuesday, August 5, 6:00 pm: Verdes vs Saprissa (Costa Rica) at FFB Field, Belmopan
- Week 3 – Thursday, August 14, 7:00 pm (6:00 pm Belize time): Club Atlético Independiente (CAI) (Panama) vs Verdes
- Week 4 – Wednesday, August 20, 8:00 pm (8:00 pm Belize time):: Cartaginés (Costa Rica) vs Verdes
