By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Football fans in the capital are in for a treat on George Price Day, Thursday, January 15, as the Premier League of Belize (PLB) Pre‑Season Quadrangular returns to Belmopan with $4,000 in cash prizes on the line. The holiday tournament, set for Isidoro Beaton Stadium, kicks off at 4:00 p.m. and marks the third edition of the event.
This year’s quadrangular is organized by Marvin Ottley, with the support of Kursha Pollard and Jarret Davis, continuing a growing tradition of competitive pre‑season football in the region.
The participating teams are:
• Verdes FC
• Napoles FC Belmopan
• Belmopan FC
• Police United (Wingz FC) – Belmopan 1st Division invitee
The tournament has rotated venues and themes in recent years.
In 2024, Verdes claimed a 2–1 victory over Benque Viejo United in the Western Championship final at the Edmund Marshalleck Stadium in Benque Viejo del Carmen.
In 2025, Verdes captured the title again in the Belmopan Championship, competing against Port Layola, Napoles, and Club Atlético—two of which were Belmopan 1st Division sides at the time. Napoles has since moved up.

• 1st Place: $2,500
• 2nd Place: $1,000
• 3rd Place: $500
Tournament Format & Match Schedule
A draw will be held prior to kickoff to determine the matchups.
• Game 1: 1 vs 4 – 4:00 p.m.
• Game 2: 2 vs 3 – 5:30 p.m.
• Game 3: Loser Game 1 vs Loser Game 2 – Third Place Match at 7:30 p.m.
• Game 4: Winner Game 1 vs Winner Game 2 – Championship Match at 9:00 p.m.lñ
