By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Valvoline’s Oscar Quiroz won the Annual TV (Thomas Vincent) Ramos Cycling Classic 2024, held by the Dangriga Cycling Association and the National Garifuna Council, on Tuesday on the Hummingbird Highway.
Oscar Quiroz beat Carlton Robinson (second) and Shawn Trapp (third) in a sprint on Main Street in Dangriga in front of K’s Bar where the 66-mile race had started. The three rode together into Dangriga with Oscar looking comfortable in the back behind Trapp and Robinson. A few hundred yards from the finish line, he got off his seat and attacked, leaving Robinson and Trapp behind.
Quiroz, Trapp, and Fernando Rosado got away early in the race which started in Dangriga and went to Mile 34 on the Hummingbird Highway. Robinson was able to bridge the gap and Rosado got dropped.
Rosado finished in fourth position.
