By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: This week, the United States Embassy in Belize hosted Deputy Administrator Cheryl Blakely and Assistant Deputy Administrator Michon Oubichon from USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service.
Their visit in Belize was aimed at deepening partnerships with the Belize Agricultural Health Authority (BAHA) and getting a firsthand look at the incredible work being done to combat Medfly.
With a commitment to maintaining Belize’s Medfly-free status, USDA reaffirmed its support for BAHA during this visit.
“Together, we are working towards a continued future for healthy Belizean agriculture that is Medfly free,” the U.S. Embassy noted.
