By Zoila Palma: Several concerned residents are raising the alarm over the welfare of horses tied in Belize City.
On Cairo Street in Belize City, a horse was left tied in the heat of the day.
The horse was left without access to shade or water, struggling to find shelter from the sun.
“Hopefully, this isn’t another case like the previous one, where a horse was left for dead. As a concerned citizen, I can’t sit back and watch this happen again.
Who can we reach out to for help in protecting this animal? I’ve been informed that the police department cannot assist, but we need to know who can. It’s time to hold animal owners accountable. No one should own an animal and treat them inhumanely,” Esli Abigail Hernandez Claros said.
Other concerned residents are calling out those that leave horses and pets tied for cruelty.
Residents are urging everyone to identify the proper authorities or channels to address such cases.
As the community pushes for greater animal protection, the hope is to prevent further neglect and ensure that those responsible for the horse’s welfare are held accountable.
