Up In Smoke: Alleged phony cops headed to jail for Vape Store armed robbery

By Breaking Belize News Staff: Two Belize City men accused of posing as police officers to carry out a bold daylight robbery have been remanded to the Belize Central Prison after being arraigned on multiple serious charges.

Charged jointly are 27-year-old Kenroy Amani Daly, a security guard, and 26-year-old Ahkeem Rashawn Danderson, a labourer. The pair allegedly executed a brazen robbery on Daly Street, targeting a vape shop and escaping with $23,000 in cash, two boxes of vape products valued at $900, and a black fanny pack containing personal documents belonging to Dylan Vasquez.

Police reports indicate that the suspects, both armed with firearms, pretended to be law enforcement officers during the commission of the crime. Their escape, however, was short-lived. Officers reportedly pursued the men, during which Daly allegedly opened fire at police but missed. Both suspects were subsequently captured and detained.

The men appeared unrepresented on Tuesday afternoon before Magistrate Neeshad Mohammed in Court #1, where they were read a total of nine charges. These include robbery, false pretense of a police officer, keeping unlicensed firearms and ammunition, and, in Daly’s case, an additional charge of aggravated assault with a firearm.

Danderson faces charges related to possession of a 9mm pistol along with nine live rounds of ammunition of varying brands, while Daly is accused of possessing a Glock 19 pistol with ten live rounds.

Both men pleaded not guilty to all charges. Due to the gravity of the offenses, bail was denied, and they were remanded to the Belize Central Prison until June 30, 2026. Magistrate Mohammed informed them that they may apply for bail at the High Court.

Police say the robbery occurred on April 27, 2026, after they responded to reports of an armed hold-up at a vape shop on Daly Street. The suspects reportedly fled the scene on a motorcycle before being intercepted following a police chase.
