By Horace Palacio: Belize Electricity Limited (BEL) has reported an unplanned power outage affecting a huge portion of San Pedro Town, Ambergris Caye. The outage, which began at approximately 1:20 a.m. has left several neighborhoods without electricity.
The outage encompasses a wide area of San Pedro Town, including San Pedrito, DFC Area, Escalante Subdivision, and a portion of Mahogany Bay. Specific streets affected include Pescador Drive, Almond Street, Black Coral Street, Tarpon Street, Coconut Drive, Esmeralda Street, Water Lane, Glitter Street, Tropic Wave Street, Lion Street, Crocodile Street, Jade Street, Sea Grape Drive, Marina Drive, Stingray Street, Mullet Street, Fire Coral Street, Stadium Street, Pearl Street, Rosewood Street, Flamboyant Street, Ciricote Street, and Escalante Drive.
BEL has dispatched a team to investigate the cause of the outage and address voltage issues affecting San Pedro Feeder 2 Zone 2. The company assures customers that power will be restored as soon as possible.
BEL apologizes for the inconvenience caused by this unplanned power outage and is working to resolve the issue. Residents are advised to remain patient and take necessary precautions until power is fully restored.
