University of Belize hosts annual Symposium on Belize’s Foreign Policy

By Zoila Palma: The University of Belize (UB) hosted its annual symposium on September 18, featuring keynote speaker Francis Fonseca, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade, Culture, and Immigration.

The event was held under the theme “Belize’s Foreign Policy @ 44 and Beyond: Priorities, Challenges and Opportunities in a Changing World.”

In his address, Minister Fonseca highlighted the current challenges facing Belize’s foreign policy and emphasized the importance of strategic engagement in a rapidly shifting global environment.

He noted that Belize must continue to safeguard its sovereignty, strengthen international partnerships, and adapt to emerging global trends.

The symposium also featured a panel discussion where experts and academics joined the Minister to examine critical issues, including international relations, climate change strategy, and the role of foreign policy in advancing national development.
