By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: On December 14, 2023, during a meeting of the Board of Trustees at the University of Belize’s Central Campus in Belmopan City, Godfrey Smith was elected as Chairman of the Board of Trustees.
Smith succeeds former Chairman Anthony Sylvestre Jr. who was sworn in as the new Attorney General on 1st July, 2023.
Major Lloyd Jones was re-elected as Vice Chairman.
Minister of Education, Culture, Science and Technology Francis Fonseca at the meeting and thanked all members of the Board, new and returning, for agreeing to serve on the UB Board of Trustees.
Minister Fonseca also congratulated the Chairman and the Vice Chairman and expressed gratitude to the former Chairman, Attorney General Sylvestre, for his contribution during his tenure.
