By Zoila Palma: Today, the University of Belize (UB) extended congratulations to the people of Gales Point “Malanti” Village, the National Institute of Culture and History (NICH), the National Kriol Council, and Belize’s delegation to UNESCO on the inscription of Krismos Bram and Sambai on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
“As Belize’s national university, we recognize this milestone as a powerful affirmation of the creativity, resilience, and ancestral knowledge of our Kriol community and of the many culture bearers who have safeguarded these traditions across generations,” UB said.
UB says that it remains committed to supporting the documentation, study, and celebration of Belize’s diverse cultural expressions through our teaching, research, and community outreach.
