University of Belize Annual Relathon set for Saturday, March 23

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Annual University of Belize (UB) Relathon is scheduled for Saturday, March 23.

“ Are you up for the challenge? Gear up, unleash your inner sprinter, and let the Relathon begin!” UB said in a social media post.

“Who will claim victory? Lace up, and let’s find out!”

The traditional race organized in relay fashion by the University of Belize starts at the same time in San Ignacio for its men runners and in Belmopan for its women.

The men’s objective is to pass the men on their way to Belize City where it finishes at UB/ITVET. The women’s objective is just the opposite; not to be passed by the men.

The race was started in 1977 in the days of the Belize Technical College which later merged with other institutions to become the University of Belize.

The UB Relathon is held to raise funds in support of the Student Bursaries Fund.
