By Aaron Humes: The United Democratic Party (UDP) has issued a public notice to members to apply beginning today, Thursday, to be nominated for election or endorsement as the Party’s standard bearer in 17 open constituencies.
By decision of the Party leadership executive, the five constituencies currently held by the UDP in the House of Representatives – Albert, Queen Square, Mesopotamia, Corozal North and Cayo West – will not be contested. Neither will those in which there was unanimous agreement on a candidate.
The open seats are thus Corozal Bay; Orange Walk Central and East; Belize Rural Central and South; Freetown, Caribbean Shores, Lake Independence, Fort George, Pickstock and Port Loyola in Belize City; Belmopan and Cayo South in the Cayo District; Stann Creek West and Dangriga; and Toledo East.
Applications must be accompanied by a recent police record, copy of Social Security Card and other documentation that can assist in the Party’s selection.
The application form is available on the UDP Belize Facebook page or via WhatsApp to 615-9984. Address applications to Secretary General, United Democratic Party, Youth for the Future Drive, Belize City.
Deadline for applications is 4:30 p.m. on July 25.
