United Democratic Party joins call for rape investigation against ‘former candidate’

By Aaron Humes: The Opposition United Democratic Party says it takes allegations of rape “extremely serious” and condemns acts of violence against women in connection with the announcement of a police investigation into such charges made over the weekend.

The party heavily hints at the identity of the accused by confirming that he is a former candidate for the party, though does not name him.

In respect of the rule of law, the party says it hopes the Director of Public Prosecutions will conduct a thorough and impartial investigation into the allegations.
