By Rubén Morales Iglesias: United Ballers and Sarteneja FC have emerged as the two finalists of the Corozal Football Association 1st Division Championship. Both teams secured their spots in the final after winning their respective semifinals played on Sunday at the Carolina Football Field in Corozal.
In the first game, Sarteneja FC faced Libertad FC and won 2-1. The first half ended 1-0 in favour of Sarteneja, with Clayton Villanueva scoring in the 3rd minute. Libertad equalized in the 81st minute with a goal from Arlon Budna. However, Sarteneja clinched the victory with a winning goal by Rajon Jones in the 87th minute.
The second game saw United Ballers edge Calcutta Bulls 1-0 to make their way to the finals. The first half ended in a goalless draw. In the second half, Shane Morgan scored the decisive goal for United Ballers in the 78th minute, leading them to victory.
With these results, United Ballers and Sarteneja FC will face off in the district championship final. Libertad and the Calcutta Bulls will play for third place.
