By Aaron Humes: Police are investigating the death of an unidentified male whose decomposed body was discovered behind the Port of Belize early this afternoon. Police received the report around 12:44 p.m. after a passerby noticed the remains about three hours earlier and alerted them.
Upon their arrival, officers found a male individual dressed in a black T-shirt, khaki pants, and black-and-white Nike tennis shoes. The body, described as significantly decomposed, was deemed unidentifiable at the scene and has since been listed as “John Doe.”
The circumstances surrounding the man’s death remain unclear, and police are treating the case as a death investigation. The National Forensic Services Laboratory morgue will conduct a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death.
Police urge anyone who may know of a missing individual fitting the described clothing to reach out as they work to establish the identity of the deceased. Further updates on the investigation will be provided as new information becomes available.
