By Breaking Belize News Staff: Police are investigating a burglary reported on Barracuda Street in Belize City, where thieves made off with over $1,600 worth of electronic items.
According to police, around 8:30 a.m. on Monday, March 30, 2026, officers responded to reports of a burglary on Barracuda Street.
Upon arrival, officers observed a green, two-storey concrete apartment building where they met a 24-year-old unemployed resident of the address. He reported that he resides in a room on the upper flat of the building.
He told police that on Sunday, March 29, at about 5:30 p.m., he securely locked his room before leaving home. However, when he returned around 6:00 a.m. on Monday, he found his door open. Checks inside the room revealed that several items had been stolen, including a white PlayStation 5 console valued at $1,200, along with two controllers valued at $75, and a grey Dell laptop with charger valued at $400. The total value of the stolen items is estimated at $1,675.
The man stated that he did not give anyone permission to enter his room or remove his belongings.
Police investigations revealed that entry was gained by tampering with the deadbolt on the room door. The scene was processed by Scenes of Crime personnel; however, no fingerprints were recovered.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
