By Rubén Morales Iglesias: St John’s College (SJC) and St Catherine Academy (SCA) will be competing for third place in volleyball at the Under-18 CODICADER Games, held at the FESAVOL Arena in San Salvador, El Salvador, on Monday.
In the semifinals on Sunday, SJC lost to Panama’s Colegio Agustiniano Chitre 3-2 (31-29, 27-29, 26-28, 25-17, 15-10) in an extremely competitive match. They will now face Honduras’ La Estancia, who fell to Costa Rica’s Liceo Atenas 3-0 (25-16, 25-15, 25-13), at 1:00 pm in the third-place match. Liceo Atenas will take on Colegio Agustiniano Chitre in the final.
Meanwhile, SCA lost in the semifinals to Nicaragua’s Colegio Nuestra Señora del Rosario 3-2 (22-25, 15-25, 25-21, 25-23, 15-12). Despite winning the first two sets, SCA couldn’t maintain their momentum, and the Nicaraguan team prevailed. SCA will now face El Salvador’s Colegio Sagrado Corazón, who fell 3-0 (25-11, 25-22, 25-14) to Guatemala’s Colegio de Señoritas Sagrado Corazón, on Monday at 1:00 pm at the FESAVOL Arena. Colegio Nuestra Señora del Rosario will face Colegio de Señoritas Sagrado Corazón in the final.
Both SJC and SCA finished Group B play with a 2-1 record, qualifying in second place and advancing to the semifinals.
