By Rubén Morales Iglesias: St Catherine Academy (SCA) defeated Costa Rica’s Liceo Atenas 3-2 (25-20, 23-25, 25-22, 17-25, 17-15) in their second game of the volleyball tournament at the Under-18 CODICADER Games in San Salvador, El Salvador, on Friday afternoon.
The game was so tight that the overall points score was 107-107. However, SCA prevailed, improving their record to 1-1. On Monday, they fell to Guatemala’s Colegio de Señoritas Sagrado Corazón (Sacred Heart Girls School) 3-0. The score belies the actual encounter, which finished 25-23, 25-22, 25-21 in favor of the Guatemalans.
In the boys’ competition, the SJC boys were to face Costa Rica’s Liceo Atenas starting at 4:00 pm. SCA is in Group B, playing against Guatemala, Costa Rica, and Honduras. Group A consists of El Salvador, Panama, and Nicaragua. On Saturday, SCA will play Honduras at 1:00 pm.
