By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Belmopan Comprehensive (COMPRE) won their second game, defeating Honduras’ Instituto Modesto Rodas Alvarado 5-1 on Saturday morning at the Under-18 CODICADER Games at Cancha FESA in San Salvador, El Salvador.
Jasha Bernardez and Kenya Perez scored two goals each while Jolene Aranda converted the other.
COMPRE dominated the Honduran team, leading 3-1 at halftime, in a match similar to their 6-2 victory over El Salvador’s C.E. Alberto Guerra Trigueros on Friday afternoon at Estadio Las Delicias in San Salvador. Kenya Perez scored a hat trick against the Salvadoran school in the 45+2’, 80’, and 84’. Jasysha Bernardez scored a brace shaking the net in the 18’ and 32’ while Jolene Arnada netted the fifth goal for COMPRE on Friday, scoring in the 84’.
Perez and Bernardez, who also scored on Thursday in the 5-1 loss to Colegio Santa María de Guadalupe (SAMAGU) of Costa Rica, have now both scored five goals, while Aranda has scpred two.
Incidentally, SAMAGU fell earlier today 5-1 to Panama’s Instituto Rubiano.
Rubiano leads the competition with seven points, followed by COMPRE and SAMAGU with six points each. COMPRE is in second place due to goal difference (+4 to +2). COMPRE has now scored 12 goals and allowed eight, while SAMAGU has scored nine and allowed seven.
The Muffles College boys are playing at Cancha FESA at 10:15 am against Honduras’ Instituto Satuyé.
On Sunday, October 6, they’ll face Nicaragua (COMPRE at 4:00 pm and Muffles at 6:00 pm) at Cancha FESA.
On Monday, October 7, they’ll battle Guatemala, COMPRE at 8:00 am at Estadio Las Delicias and Muffles at 8:00 am as well at Cancha FESA.
On Tuesday, October 8, they’ll tackle Panama, COMPRE at 8:00 am at Estadio Las Delicias and Muffles at 8:00 am as well at Cancha FESA.
In the boys’ tournament, Muffles will tackle El Salvador at the same venue at 6:00 pm on Friday.
