By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Sagitun Girlz struck first at COS Sports Plaza in Panama City on Saturday morning, with Jada Brown netting a confident opener in the 6th minute against Alianza Women of El Salvador in their second UNCAF Interclub Women’s Championship match.
The Belizean squad maintained control early, displaying pace and cohesion. Alianza gradually shifted momentum and built a 4–1 lead by the 81st minute through a series of quick finishes.
Undeterred, Sagitun GIRLZ pressed forward. In the 81st minute, a foul in the box led to a penalty kick, which Panamanian Solemar Ortiz calmly converted down the middle—bringing the score to 4–2 and reaffirming the team’s fighting spirit.
Following Thursday’s narrow 3–2 match against Panama’s Chorrillo FC, the Sagitun GIRLZ continue to show growth and resilience on the regional stage though more work needs to be done. Their final group stage match will be held Monday at 9:15 am Panama time (8:15 am Belize) against Nicaragua’s Real Estelí, again at COS Sports Plaza.
