By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): Leader of the Opposition Tracy Panton says the departures of two senior UDP executives were not the result of internal friction.
Juliet Thimbriel resigned as national campaign manager and Audrey Wallace stepped down as chair of the public relations committee, separately, over the past two weeks.
Asked about the resignations at a press conference, Panton was firm.
“Let me say categorically that both Ms. Audrey Wallace and Ms. Juliet Thimbriel are valuable members of the UDP,” she said. “They have contributed and they continue to contribute to the rebuilding of the UDP.”
She said both women told her they were unable to take on those substantive roles for reasons that were both personal and professional.
“But make no mistake, they continue to work very closely with the leadership team,” Panton said, noting that she would appear on Wave Radio alongside Thimbriel the following morning.
Panton said Thimbriel continues to lead investigative work on Wave Radio and Wave Television.
“Let’s not be distracted by those whose only intention is to try and create disruption,” she said.
