UDP expresses solidarity with Public Service Union and Belize Tax Service

By Zoila Palma:  Today, the United Democratic Party (UDP) said that it stands firmly in solidarity with the Public Service Unions and the staff of the Belize Tax Service Department with their walkout today.

“Those who will be directly affected by the proposed Revenue Authority Bill, 2026 have a right to genuine, meaningful consultation not token engagement after critical decisions have already been made,” Leader of the Opposition Tracy Panton said.

“The Government must immediately meet with the unions and employees in good faith, address their legitimate concerns sent to them in writing on August 10th, 2026 and ensure that their concerns are fully reflected before this legislation advances,” Panton added.

Panton said that consultation is a fundamental requirement of accountable governance, and the Government must respect it.
