By Zoila Palma:  Leader of the Opposition Tracy Panton and the United Democratic Party (UDP) has extended congratulations to Prime Minister Philip “Brave” Davis and the Progressive Liberal Party on their decisive victory in the General Elections held in The Bahamas on Tuesday, May 12, 2026.

“This renewed mandate is a clear demonstration of the confidence the Bahamian people have placed in Prime Minister Davis’ leadership and in the vision of the Progressive Liberal Party for the continued advancement of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas,” the UDP said.

“The UDP also makes special note of the historic election of nine women to Parliament, representing approximately 22% of the seats in the House of Assembly. This is a significant step forward for democratic representation and inclusive governance in our region. The stronger presence of women in Parliament ensures that women’s voices, perspectives, and leadership are more fully represented in the halls of national decision-making. This achievement is not only a victory for the Progressive Liberal Party, but also a victory for women, for representation, and for the continued strengthening of democracy throughout the Caribbean,” Paton said.

Panton further extended best wishes to Prime Minister Davis, his government, and the people of The Bahamas as they embark on this new chapter of national service.

“May this renewed administration be guided by wisdom, unity, humility, and an unwavering commitment to the well-being of all Bahamians,” Panton added.
