By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: The U.S. Embassy’s International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs Bureau (INL) is supporting Defensive Tactics Training of the Belize Police Department through a Train the Trainers Course.
Belize now has 27 Defensive Tactics Instructors across all regions.
INL is donating over $65,000 of defensive tactics equipment which, coupled with these new skills, will assist officers in avoiding the escalation of force during detentions.
This project is part of the Citizen Security Pillar that works with the National Police Training Academy (NPTA) to professionalize its police force.
