By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Belize forward Tyrone Linares has scored in consecutive matches at the Concacaf U20 Championship, finding the net against Suriname on Monday and again on Thursday in the 3–0 victory over Grenada in Managua.
Linares’ first goal came in Belize’s 7–2 loss to Suriname, where he provided one of the team’s few bright moments on Monday, February 23, 2026. He followed up Wednesday with Belize’s third goal against Grenada, finishing in stride after a superb left‑foot backward chip from Marlon Meza Jr.
Linares recent form reflects the momentum he has carried from school and domestic football. Linares helped Gwen Lizarraga High School capture the Central Secondary Schools Sports Association (CSSSA) Football Championship, playing a key role in their title run. He is also competing at the senior amateur level with Tut Bay, the reigning First Division champions, gaining valuable experience against older, more physical players.
Belize now look ahead to the remaining group matches with Linares emerging as one of the young attackers contributing consistently at the U20 level.
