By BBN Staff: Two young men, identified as Henry Osorio and Alexander Munoz, tragically drowned at the Guanacaste Park riverside bathing area on Thursday evening.
At around 4:25 p.m., police responded to a distress call from two female students, Coralyse Perez and Kirsten Duran, who reported that their male friends had gone underwater and hadn’t resurfaced.
Just before 5, officers located the bodies, with only their feet visible above the water. They retrieved Munoz, wearing blue pants, and Osorio, in a red shirt, but both showed no signs of life.
Preliminary investigations suggest alcohol may have played a role, as witnesses reported Munoz drifting away, prompting Osorio to attempt a rescue.
Unfortunately, both men became fatigued and drowned, despite attempts from bystanders to help.
