By Breaking Belize News Staff: Two men are in custody at the Belize Central Prison after allegedly attacking a 13-year-old boy over a stolen horse. Lawnie Fitzroy Leslie, 22, a fisherman from Police Street, and Anthony Alexander Supall, 21, a construction worker from Mahogany Street, appeared alongside a 17-year-old minor in Court #7, where they faced a joint charge of wounding.
The incident reportedly took place on October 31, 2024, when the trio allegedly confronted the young teenager, believing he was involved in the theft of their horses. According to Supall’s account, the men were pursuing the boy and his friend when one lost control of his bicycle and fell. Supall admitted to lifting the bike as if to take it but then threw it at the boy when he realized it wasn’t functional. Both Leslie and Supall admitted to participating in the physical altercation, with Leslie stating he slapped the boy twice.
The 13-year-old victim told police he was on Lacroix Boulevard when two vehicles blocked his path, and the men exited, initiating the assault. He later reported the incident to his mother, who took him to the police. Both Leslie and Supall pleaded guilty to wounding, while the minor, who denied the charge, was released after the wounding charge against him was withdrawn.
The sitting magistrate remanded Leslie and Supall pending sentencing, noting the seriousness of the offense. They are scheduled to receive their sentences on Friday, November 8, 2024.
