By Aaron Humes: On Wednesday, November 5, at approximately 5:40 pm, reports of gunfire shook the 8 Miles Community, prompting a police response.
Two individuals went to hospital with gunshot injuries: Nitin Buxani, a 39-year-old businessman from Belize City, and Rene Arnold, who was also injured. Witnesses described a suspect seen in the area — a dark-complexioned, stout-built male wearing a grey hooded shirt covering his head, black pants, and carrying a black backpack.
The suspect allegedly discharged several shots from a firearm towards a grey Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck heading from Hattieville, Belize District, to Belize City.
Police have initiated an investigation. The injured individuals are reported to be in stable condition.
Police continue to investigate the motive and seek additional witnesses. No arrests have been made so far.
