By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): A Trial Farm Village man is facing a drug charge after police say he threw something to the ground during a midnight stop, and a check of the spot turned up two bags of suspected cocaine.
According to the Belize Police Department, on Friday, July 17, 2026, at about 12:10 a.m., officers on mobile patrol along East San Martin Street in Trial Farm Village, Orange Walk District, observed a man riding a silver bicycle toward the police vehicle. Upon seeing the mobile, police said, the man began behaving suspiciously and was ordered to stop, which he did.
An officer then observed the man throw something from his left hand to the ground. The officer approached, informed him that a search would be conducted for illegal drugs, and searched his person, finding nothing incriminating. The officer then informed the man of what he had seen and escorted him about two feet away, where two transparent ziplock bags containing a white powdery substance, suspected to be cocaine, were found on the ground.
The man was informed of the offence, placed under arrest, cautioned, and advised of his constitutional rights, before being escorted to the Orange Walk Police Station with the suspected drugs in his view at all times.
At the station, he was identified as 31-year-old Johnie Ademir Cal, a Belizean construction worker of Nightingale Street, Trial Farm Village. The suspected cocaine was weighed in his presence, amounting to 0.47 grams, then sealed, labelled, and handed over as evidence.
Cal was formally arrested and charged with possession of controlled drugs. Cautioned once more after being charged, he chose to remain silent.
