By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): Orange Walk police have detained two individuals as investigations continue into a burglary at Plett’s Electronics early Saturday morning.
Police say the break-in occurred shortly before 3:00 a.m. at the electronics store on Queen Victoria Avenue. Officers responding to the scene found the alarm sounding and later confirmed that the building had been forcibly entered through a hole in the rear wall.
Inside the store, police observed signs of ransacking. Further checks revealed that numerous high-value cellular phones, including several iPhone models, as well as a quantity of cash, were stolen. The total value of items taken is estimated at more than forty-five thousand dollars.
Crime scene investigators processed and photographed the scene, while the surrounding area was canvassed. Surveillance footage was reviewed, and police say useful information was obtained.
As part of the investigation, two house searches were conducted, resulting in the detention of two men pending further inquiries. Police are also seeking another individual in connection with the burglary.
Investigations are ongoing, and court action has been requested.
