By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): Two people have lost their lives following a fatal road traffic accident early Sunday morning in Ontario Village, Cayo District.
Police confirmed that Jovan Middleton, the driver, and Ashley Gongora, his passenger, were killed when the vehicle they were traveling in lost control, hit a culvert, and flipped. Middleton reportedly died on the spot, while Gongora succumbed to her injuries shortly after the crash.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident, which marks the second and third road fatalities in the Cayo District this weekend.
The crash follows another incident in Teakettle Village on Saturday night involving a motorcycle, which left several persons seriously injured but alive.
Police continue to caution motorists to drive carefully, especially on rural roads that are often dark and uneven.
