Rubén Morales Iglesias: Tut Bay FC are now the sole leaders of the Belize District Football Association (BDFA) 2025–2026 1st Division Closing Championship after defeating Kelly Street FC 2–0 in Sunday’s 3K Match at the Marion Jones Sports Complex in Belize City. The victory also lifts Tut Bay to 13 points from four consecutive wins, keeping their perfect record intact.
The highly anticipated 3K Match lived up to expectations, with Tut Bay striking in both halves.
Calvin Thurton opened the scoring in the 39th minute, finishing a well‑worked move to give Tut Bay the advantage. Kelly Street pushed hard for an equalizer, but Tut Bay’s defensive organization held firm.
As the match approached full time, league joint‑top scorer Esmond “Bagga” Sanker sealed the result in the 89th minute, securing both the victory and the $3,000 prize.

Standings Shake‑Up at the Top
The result reshaped the top of the table:
- Tut Bay FC move to 13 points, now alone in 1st place.
- Kelly Street FC remain at 9 points (three wins, one loss) and drop to 3rd place.
- Caesar Ridge FC climb to 2nd place on 10 points after defeating Reggae Boyz FC 2–1 in Sunday’s preliminary match.
- Reggae Boyz FC, who entered the weekend in 4th, remain on 7 points.
The updated standings reflect a tightening race among the top three, with Tut Bay now holding a four‑point cushion over Kelly Street and a two‑point lead over Caesar Ridge.
Tut Bay’s Perfect Run Continues
Tut Bay’s combination of attacking firepower and defensive discipline has defined their campaign so far. With Sanker continuing his scoring form and the team showing depth across the pitch, they have emerged as the early favourites in the Closing Championship.
Kelly Street, despite the loss, remain firmly in contention and will look to rebound quickly as the tournament continues.
