By Aaron Humes: Police are investigating the death of a 32-year-old Belizean truck driver in Western Belize.
The investigation commenced after police responded to a report about 2:30 a.m. this morning Thursday, May 22, on the Valley of Peace Road in the Cayo District. Upon arrival, officers found a Freightliner truck with a yellow trailer loaded with sugar cane. Blood and a machete were discovered inside the truck.
A search of the area led to the discovery of a man’s body with multiple chop wounds. He was identified as Fredi Michael Ortega of Roaring Creek Village, Cayo District. The body of Fredi Michael Ortega was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
