By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): Belizeans should keep an umbrella close today, as an approaching tropical wave brings moist and unstable conditions across the country, and with them, plenty of rain.
According to the National Meteorological Service, skies will be cloudy at times today and tonight. A few showers, periods of moderate rain, and isolated thunderstorms are likely to continue around the country today, especially over southern and northern inland areas. Tonight, a few showers and isolated thunderstorms will likely affect mostly southern and some coastal areas.
Temperatures along the coast will reach a high of 87 degrees Fahrenheit (31 Celsius) and a low of 80 (27 Celsius). Inland areas will be warmer, climbing to 92 degrees Fahrenheit (33 Celsius) and dropping to 74 (23 Celsius). In the hills, expect a high of 79 degrees Fahrenheit (26 Celsius) and a cooler low of 67 (19 Celsius).
At sea, winds will blow from the east at 10 to 20 knots, with moderate seas and waves of 4 to 6 feet.
On the tropical front, there is reassuring news. Despite the tropical wave, no tropical cyclone formation is expected over the region during the next 48 hours.
Looking ahead to Wednesday and Wednesday night, skies will be cloudy at times, with showers or thunderstorms generally isolated, and a few more expected mostly over the south.
Today’s low tides are at 9:38 AM and 9:21 PM, with a high tide at 3:21 PM and another high at 3:31 AM tomorrow. The sun sets this evening at 6:31 PM and rises tomorrow at 5:24 AM. The forecast was issued by forecaster Tareek Matthews.
