By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): Belizeans should keep the umbrella within reach this morning, as a tropical wave sitting just over the country sends showers and thunderstorms spreading nationwide, though relief arrives by evening.

According to the National Meteorological Service, partly cloudy skies will become mostly cloudy this morning. Showers and thunderstorms will be isolated at first, with activity gradually increasing over the country as the morning progresses. The rains will then decrease this evening and become generally isolated tonight, except for the south, where a few showers and isolated thunderstorms could linger.

Boaters should take note as well. A small craft caution is in effect, with gusty winds and rough seas near heavy showers and thunderstorms. Winds will blow from the east at 10 to 20 knots and gusty, with moderate to rough seas and waves of 4 to 7 feet. Operators of small crafts are advised to exercise caution.

Temperatures along the coast will reach a high of 87 degrees Fahrenheit (31 Celsius) and a low of 80 (27 Celsius). Inland areas will climb to 91 degrees Fahrenheit (33 Celsius) and drop to 74 (23 Celsius). In the hills, expect a high of 77 degrees Fahrenheit (25 Celsius) and a cool low of 67 (19 Celsius).

On the tropical front, there is reassuring news. No tropical cyclone formation is expected over the region during the next 48 hours.

Looking ahead to Thursday and Thursday night, skies will be cloudy at times with generally isolated showers or isolated thunderstorms expected.

Today’s high tides are at 10:14 AM and 11:37 PM, with a low tide at 5:36 PM and another low at 4:46 AM tomorrow. The sun sets this evening at 6:30 PM and rises tomorrow at 5:26 AM. The forecast was issued by forecaster Tareek Matthews.
