By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): The National Meteorological Service (NMS) is closely monitoring a developing low-pressure system over the central Caribbean Sea, which could become a tropical storm later today.

The system, identified as AL98, is already producing winds up to 45 mph and appears to be forming a well-defined center. The U.S. Air Force Hurricane Hunters are scheduled to investigate the disturbance today.

Forecasters emphasize that the system does not pose an immediate threat to Belize, but residents are advised to stay alert as conditions continue to evolve.

Meanwhile, weather over Belize will remain partly cloudy to cloudy with showers and thunderstorms, mainly over the south and coast tonight.
