By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): The National Hurricane Center (NHC) continues to issue advisories on Tropical Storm Melissa, which remains active over the central Caribbean Sea.
As of 2:00 a.m. EDT on Thursday, October 23, 2025, Melissa continues to move slowly west-northwest with sustained winds near 50 mph. The storm is expected to produce heavy rainfall and possible flooding across parts of Haiti, the Dominican Republic, and Jamaica in the coming days.
Forecasters say no tropical cyclone formation is expected elsewhere in the Atlantic, Caribbean Sea, or Gulf of Mexico over the next seven days, and Melissa poses no immediate threat to Belize.
Meteorologists continue to monitor the system closely as it moves through the region, though conditions remain stable across Belize with no advisories in effect.
