Tropical Storm Gabrielle roars in Atlantic; Belize out of danger

Posted: Thursday, September 18, 2025. 7:08 am CST.

By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): Tropical Storm Gabrielle continues to move across the Atlantic, but forecasters stress that the system poses no threat to Belize at this time.

At 3:00 am, Gabrielle was centered near latitude 20.0N and longitude 50.3W, or about 845 miles east of the northern Leeward Islands. The storm is tracking west-northwest at 15 miles per hour with maximum sustained winds of 50 mph.

While Gabrielle maintains its strength in the Atlantic, the system remains too far east to pose any danger to the region. The National Meteorological Service has confirmed that there is no risk to Belize.

Officials continue to monitor the storm’s development, but residents are being reassured that Gabrielle will not impact the country.

The tropical weather outlook for Belize remains stable, with forecasters advising that Gabrielle’s path keeps it well away from the western Caribbean.
