Ms. Chee’s story unfolds at Claver College Extension (CCE), where she enrolled in September 2012, determined to complete her high school studies after facing an unexpected interruption at Toledo Community College due to pregnancy.
Balancing the responsibilities of a young mother and a student is no easy feat, but with unwavering support from her spouse and family, Ms. Chee navigated the challenges with grace. Juggling evening classes and her duties as a new mom, she found solace in the assistance of both sides of her family, who stepped in to help care for her child while she attended classes in Punta Gorda.
Completing her high school studies at CCE in June 2013 opened doors to further educational pursuits. In August 2014, Ms. Chee took the next step in her academic journey, enrolling at the University of Belize to pursue an Associate Degree in Business Science. Undeterred by a lack of background in the Business and Accounting field, Ms. Chee faced the challenge head-on, with Accounting proving to be the most formidable subject. Under the guidance of Mr. Joseph Supaul at CCE, she not only conquered the subject but laid a strong foundation for her future studies in the business field.
In February 2017, Ms. Chee graduated with the highest honors in her class, earning an Associate Degree in Business Science from the University of Belize, Punta Gorda Campus. Venturing into the workforce at the age of 21, she secured a position as a Customer Service Officer at Atlantic Bank Limited, Placencia Branch. Over the past six years, Ms. Chee has demonstrated her dedication and expertise, rising to her current role as a Retail Relationship Officer at the Placencia Branch.
Ms. Chee’s journey offers valuable lessons and encouragement for those considering enrollment in evening-level institutions. Her message is clear: “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams. Believe in yourself, and anything is possible.” Despite the added challenge of becoming a teenage mom, Ms. Chee’s perseverance, hard work, and determination propelled her through high school at CCE, opening pathways to both further education and a successful banking career.
Acknowledging the pivotal role of CCE in her success, Ms. Chee expressed gratitude for the supportive staff and system at the institution. Her story serves as a testament to the quote, “Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall” by Confucius, offering upliftment to anyone hesitant to embark on a new journey.
As Ms. Chee gears up for another chapter in her educational pursuit, re-enrolling at the University of Belize with plans to start classes in January 2024, her aim is clear: to complete a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. Ms. Araceli Chee’s journey is a beacon of hope and inspiration, demonstrating that with determination and support, one can overcome challenges and achieve their dreams.
