By Breaking Belize News Staff: Three men awaiting trial for murder were back before the High Court of Justice Candace Nanton last week, though only two were physically brought down from prison.
Samuel Trapp, 29, and Kevin Lanza, 27, appeared in person, while 24-year-old Robert Lamb joined the proceedings virtually from the Belize Central Prison. The men are accused of the July 4, 2023 murder of 18-year-old Gabriel Tillett inside the Lord Ridge Cemetery in Belize City.
All three are represented by separate attorneys: Orson “OJ” Elrington, Bryan Neal, and Abibi Moguel.
The case remains pending trial, with no trial date yet set. Justice Nanton scheduled the matter for Part 2 of a Case Management Conference (CMC) on February 2, 2026. The trio is also due back in court on May 30, 2026.
According to police reports, Precinct 2 CIB personnel responded to the scene where they spoke with Daniel Tillett, 19, who identified the body as that of his brother, Gabriel Tillett. The scene was processed by Scenes of Crime personnel, and the body was transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, where a doctor pronounced Tillett dead on arrival at 12:13 p.m.
Investigators later reviewed footage from a police surveillance camera located at the corner of Pitter Street and Antelope Street Extension, behind the cemetery. Police say the footage captured the incident, leading to the arrest of Lamb, Trapp, and Lanza.
