By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): A routine police patrol in Trial Farm Village led to the impounding of a vehicle and multiple traffic charges against its driver.

Police say the incident occurred Monday evening when officers noticed a vehicle traveling on Hummingbird Street with a malfunctioning headlamp.

The vehicle was stopped and the driver identified as Romel Kenneth Mendez, 43, of the Pukte Ville area in Trial Farm Village.

During the inspection, officers discovered that the vehicle’s left front and rear lights were not functioning and the insurance had recently expired.

As a result, the driver was escorted to the Orange Walk Police Station where the vehicle was impounded.

Mendez was later charged with three traffic offenses related to defective lights and driving without valid third-party insurance.

Police say the accused was cautioned and chose to remain silent.
