By Aaron Humes: A devastating road traffic accident claimed the life of 13-year-old Micah Contreras earlier tonight.
According to reports, the young boy was riding his motorcycle along the George Price Highway in the village of Unitedville, Cayo District, when a vehicle attempted to overtake him, resulting in a fatal collision.
Witnesses described the scene as horrific, with Micah’s motorcycle reportedly broken in two from the force of the impact.
The teenager was rushed to the Western Regional Hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival.
We understand Micah’s father tried desperately to reach his son at the hospital but while en route, his cousin, who was riding in the bed of the truck, fell out and sustained a severe cut to the head.
Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash, while the family has expressed their profound grief during this unimaginable time.
