By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Benque Viejo del Carmen is mourning the untimely death of one of its own, Adrian Venicio Cruz, a resident of Santa Cruz who tragically passed away in Melchor de Mencos, Guatemala—the border town just across from Belize.
According to reports from local Melchor de Mencos outlet Noti Melchor, Cruz was hospitalized after suffering serious injuries when he was struck by a vehicle in Melchor de Mencos on Saturday, July 12. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, he succumbed to his injuries while under care at the hospital.
As news of his passing reached Benque Viejo, family members began making arrangements to repatriate his body to Belize for burial in Benque, where friends and loved ones are expected to pay their last respects.
