By Aaron Humes: On Friday evening, February 27, two traffic wardens became the victims of a robbery near Belize Bank on Regent Street.

At approximately 6:20 PM, Carlos Abraham Jr., 27, and Sherffa Jex, 32, were conducting a physical deposit on behalf of the Belize Transport Department when they were approached by an armed assailant. The perpetrator, described as a dark-skinned male dressed in a green long-sleeve shirt and jeans, concealed his identity with a helmet.

According to the victims, as they exited their highway patrol vehicle parked beside the bank, the man pointed a firearm at them and demanded the money bag containing an undisclosed amount of cash. Fearing for their safety, Jex handed over the bag without resistance. The robber then fled the scene on foot, heading north up Regent Street against the flow of traffic.

Personnel from the Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) responded promptly to the scene. Officers are investigating, police said on Monday, including reviewing police camera footage. One suspect is being sought.
