By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Expelled UDP member and leader of the Alliance for Democracy Tracy Panton says that there is no room for dictatorship.
Panton and colleagues Patrick Faber, John Saldivar and Beverly Williams were expelled from the UDP after they made a request for a convention to replace Party leader Shyne Barrow.
That request was denied by the UDP party chairman Micheal Peyrefitte and the UDP standard bearers said that they will do whatever it takes for democracy to prevail within the UDP.
The UDP then designated them as having “constructively resigned” from the party.
But, Panton and her colleagues say that they remain UDP members and standard bearers despite the UDP advertising their positions as vacant.
“ I have NOT resigned
I will NOT resign.
I will NOT be forced to resign,” Panton expressed today.
“I will continue to represent the People of Albert and ALL Belizeans to the BEST of my ability.
Democracy will Prevail.
There is NO room for dictatorship in a democracy,” Panton added.
Panton says that she stands firm on the principles and values that serve as the very foundation of the United Democratic Party.
