By Breaking Belize News Staff: Leader of the Opposition Tracy Panton has extended condolences to the family and friends of young Brianna Myvett.
“I heard every word you shared, and I felt the words you could not bring yourself to say. The shock, disbelief and pain of it all are simply too much, not only for you, but for every parent who has lost a child to senseless acts of violence.
By all accounts, Brianna was a beautiful, intelligent, talented and ambitious young woman with plans for her life. She kept herself out of harm’s way, yet harm still found her. Her life mattered. Her contributions to our Belizean society mattered.
We may never understand why bad things happen to good people,” Panton said.
“We MUST find solutions to gun violence that is robbing the lives, potential and future productivity of our young people. Belize’s very survival depends on how well we protect them and create opportunities for them not merely to survive, but to thrive and to triumph,” Panton added.
Myvett was a recent graduate of Wesley Junior College. In June, Anglican Cathedral College congratulated her on graduating from the institution, noting that she was a distinguished alumna of ACC’s Class of 2023.
Myvett was laid to rest on September 2, 2026.
