By Horace Palacio: The Institute of Archaeology (IA) has announced the suspension of all water-related tour activities at the Actun Tunichil Muknal (ATM) Cave and the Nohoch Che’en Archaeological Reserve due to elevated river levels. This precautionary measure is in place to ensure the safety of visitors and tour guides.

As of 6:15 am on August 26, 2024, all other archaeological reserves remain open to the public. The IA is actively monitoring the situation and will provide updates as necessary.

Visitors planning to visit the ATM Cave or Nohoch Che’en are encouraged to check with tour operators or the IA for the latest information before making travel arrangements.
