Tottenham reject Swansea approach for Ange Postecoglou’s No 2 Chris Davies

Tottenham have rejected an approach from Swansea for Ange Postecoglou’s No 2, Chris Davies. The Welsh club need a manager after sacking Michael Duff on Monday and Davies, who Spurs hired in the summer, quickly emerged as a leading contender.

Davies, 38, worked on the Swansea coaching staff under Brendan Rodgers from 2010-2012, his playing career having ended prematurely at 19 because of an arthritic foot condition. Capped by Wales at junior level, Davies had been the captain of the youth team at Reading that was managed by Rodgers. His coaching career has been closely aligned to Rodgers; after Swansea, he worked on his staff at Liverpool and later at Celtic and Leicester, when he was his No 2.
