By Breaking Belize News Staff: Two persons — 25-year-old Tafaree “Top Up” Sanchez and a 17-year-old minor — have been charged jointly with three counts of attempted murder in connection with a broad daylight shooting on the Philip Goldson Highway that left three men injured, including well-known gang figure Jahreem Staine, also known as “32.”

Sanchez appeared unrepresented before a Senior Magistrate in Court #2 on Friday afternoon, where he was formally read the three attempted murder charges. No plea was taken since the offenses are indictable and will be tried before the High Court.

He is accused, along with the 17-year-old minor, of attempting to kill Jahreem Staine, Glenford Henry Reed, and Joshua Daniel Nunez during a shooting that occurred around 4:00 p.m. on Friday, September 26, 2025, near Mile 3½ on the Phillip Goldson Highway.

Due to the seriousness of the charges, bail was denied, and Sanchez was remanded to the Belize Central Prison until November 25, 2025, the same date set for the minor’s next court appearance.

Police investigations revealed that five men were traveling in a blue 2014 Chevrolet Equinox SUV from Ladyville toward Belize City when, upon reaching in front of NAPA Auto Parts, they were ambushed by a gold Nissan Muranowith four occupants.

Two of the assailants — allegedly Sanchez and the minor — exited the Murano armed with firearms and opened fire on the Equinox. The victims attempted to flee, but the Murano reportedly chased them until their vehicle came to a stop in front of Meheia Construction Company, where the gunfire continued.

Officers responding to the scene recovered multiple 9mm expended shells and observed several gunshot damages to both the Equinox and a white Ford F-150 pickup belonging to Meheia Construction.

The injured men were rushed to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH) for treatment by police from the Precinct 4 Quick Response Team.

Sanchez, now jointly charged with the minor, will remain behind bars as the investigation and court proceedings continue.
