By Horace Palacio: Police in Ladyville are investigating the theft of over $9,000 worth of tools and equipment stolen from a container at a work site on Mile 6 in Ladyville Village.
The theft was reported to police on Friday morning, December 27, 2024. Authorities were informed that the incident occurred between 5 a.m. on Tuesday, December 24, and 7 a.m. on Friday.
The stolen items, which were stored inside a grey 40-foot container, include two Inco skill saws valued at $600 BZD, three hammer drills worth $1,300 BZD, two orange grinders valued at $220 BZD, a large grinder worth $600 BZD, two chop saws valued at $800 BZD, a jackhammer worth $1,000 BZD, an impact drill set valued at $400 BZD, a sledgehammer worth $75 BZD, a pressure washer valued at $1,900 BZD, and a Firma generator worth $2,750 BZD.
The total loss is estimated at $9,645 BZD.
Police visited and photographed the scene, and a forensic investigator canvassed the area for information. However, no useful leads or witnesses have been identified so far, and no arrests have been made. Investigators have recorded a statement and are continuing inquiries.
Authorities are urging anyone with information about the theft to come forward and assist in the investigation.
